In the 2026 Mississauga Municipal Council election, the best Candidate for Ward 7 is Joel Binda.
He is experienced in municipal finance, having worked at City Hall during 2009-2014.
Joel also worked at banks, and started local businesses such as Dog Heaven Forever.
His main plans for Ward 7 is getting police foot patrols on main streets like Hurontario and Dundas. As well as a random police presence on transit to increase safety.
Rising property taxes is a priority. Having worked in the City’s finance department, he understands the problem from both sides. To keep taxes from rising further, Joel will work with Council to cut staff expenses and cultural spending at the City. He’ll also start an Association of Elected Councillors across Ontario to pressure the Federal Government to reallocate more of the Foreign Aid budget to Canadian cities.
He is married with two young kids and still lives in Ward 7 Mississauga. He immigrated from Trinidad with his family in 1997.
The election is in October 2026. Early voting is October 8-11, with the main election day on October 26, 2026.
