Michael Carroll
Candidate
Ward 2 is another ‘open seat’ after Alvin Tedjo left to run for Mayor. As such, it has attracted many contenders. Syed Jaffery who started out running for Mayor. Samer Fawzi Alghoul has lots of ideas and experience running a business. Candidates like Sue and Alex have experience in the community. And Michelle Baker has some experience with ‘Big City Mayors’. Michael has small business experience. Leeann Cole in our view is the best choice. A long history in the community along with the tough decisions she made at the Peel School board backs up the talk.
Here are all the candidates for Councillor in Ward 2:
Leeann Cole: Her principled stance at the Peel District School Board demonstrated leadership despite “politically-correct” opposition. A true leader in the community. She is a hands-on individual focused on local issues that affect residents.
Tom Ellard: I’ve been raising my family and calling Ward 2 home for the last 22 years. For me, service is at the core of who I am as a retired soldier, business executive and community leader. I am committed to lower taxes, managed growth, safer streets and cleaner air for all residents. As chair of Libraries Not Landfills, I took on the Peel District School Board directly and won. My platform rests on four commitments: lower taxes through greater fiscal accountability and elimination of waste in the city budget; managed growth that respects existing neighbourhoods; safer streets, including ensuring police have the tools they need and that all of Peel pays its fair
share; and cleaner air, by pushing all levels of government to hold industrial emitters accountable
Ananya Majumder: “I will work closely with residents, businesses, Peel Regional Police, and City staff to strengthen neighbourhood safety and security. I will advocate for practical improvements such as additional public washrooms in appropriate tourist and high-traffic areas, faster responses to road maintenance issues like potholes, and better communication between residents and City Hall. I will also support responsible growth, help small businesses thrive, and remain accessible to residents 24/7 to listen, respond, and help resolve concerns related to City services, zoning, and community issues.
