Ward 3 is East Mississauga, centred on the Dixie/Burnhamthorpe area. It’s been represented by Councillor Chris Fonseca for the past 16 years. While Chris Fonseca was easily re-elected, many are now questioning her work on Council. The controversy around the Bloor street redesign and bike lane issue galvanized many against her.
Another issue is the Fonseca Family advertising. Husband Peter Fonseca, Member of Parliament, Mississauga East-Cooksville has also been in office for many years. Co-incidentally, all of East Mississauga is covered in Peter FONSECA advertising, emphasis on FONSECA. See below for a picture example. The question is whether the Peter FONSECA advertising blitz is actually intended to advertise Chris FONSECA. And whether this is paid for by a parliamentary budget.
Chris Fonseca
Incumbent Councillor
Mendi Kabashi
Candidate
Arshad Hashmi
Candidate
There’s two main challengers to Chris Fonseca. Kim Pines, well known in the Applewood area. And Mendi Kabashi, a new name raising eyebrows. A Senior Condominium Manager with a reputation for helping her residents. After speaking to those who know Mendi, she’s the best choice to fight for Ward 3 residents and stand up to vested interests at City Hall.
