This year Ward 7 has the most candidates of any ward in the city. 17 in total. Some candidates ran here before & are trying again. Lots of candidates don’t live in Ward 7, but seem to think their chance of getting elected are better here than their home wards. Some locals like Joel, Asha & Gerald are fresh faces who may upset the old-timers.
After many elections, we’ve seen the same talking points run up against the entrenched & difficult problems at City Hall. Good intentions & promises usually don’t materialize. Joel Binda actually has inside work experience at City Hall, unlike the crowded field. In our opinion, Joel has the best plans & experience.
List of Candidates for Ward 7 Councillor:
JOEL BINDA: Former City Hall Finance staff worker. Worked in banks in the private sector. Will add police foot patrols on main streets & transit. Will cut wasteful spending on ‘cultural groups’ & EDI at the City. Endorsed by PropertyTax.ca. Lives in Ward 7 along with wife and 2 kids.
ASHA FALINSKI: Raised in Mississauga and proudly living in Ward 7. Experienced telecom and real estate professional. Dedicated to improving Ward 7’s neighbourhoods, transit, and housing options.
LUCAS ALVES: Lucas Alves is one of many candidates that doesn’t live in Ward 7. But sees this as an easy area to get elected. His record at the Peel School Board is questionable, with many parents unhappy with the Board and the positions he took.
AHSAN KHOKHAR: Ahsan Khokhar recently made the news for the wrong reasons. His team were recorded putting up large lawn signs on people’s property without their permission. Damaging lawns in the process.
